Wyoming Firsts: A Children’s Book, by Wyoming First Lady Carol Mead, will be distributed to elementary schools and libraries throughout the state.

A new children’s book authored by Wyoming First Lady Carol Mead educates young readers about the state’s better known and lesser known historical moments.

Called Wyoming Firsts: A Children’s Book, the volume was written by Mead and features the works of 15 high school artists. The book will be distributed to elementary schools and libraries throughout Wyoming.

"This was such an exciting project because it was an opportunity to celebrate Wyoming's history and all of the remarkable ways Wyoming has led the way," said Mead. The book is part of her early childhood learning and literacy initiatives. "I hope the book will also encourage parents and children to read together."

Union Pacific is among the corporate donors who helped sponsor the book’s printing and distribution. “I am deeply grateful for the support of these companies. Their funding will allow us to make the book widely available to early elementary school children," Mead said. "These partners share my belief in the value of reading to children every day."
