Union Pacific's new Phoenix Intermodal Terminal is ready to serve one of the fastest-growing markets in the United States, connecting the Southwest with international ports in Southern California. The facility opened Feb. 1, just 45 days after the railroad’s initial announcement.

This location introduces a first of its kind intermodal service between the Los Angeles Basin and Phoenix. It sources international shipping containers from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as Union Pacific’s ICTF Intermodal Terminal.
The new service offers a sustainable, efficient rail option that reduces emissions and removes trucks from California and Arizona’s already congested highways. Moving freight by train instead of truck in the United States reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 75%.
Duncan & Son Lines will provide drayage at the Phoenix Intermodal Terminal.

Duncan & Son Lines, a family-owned logistics firm in Buckeye, Arizona, provides the location’s drayage. Construction on the terminal will continue throughout 2024. The remaining scope includes driveway striping, lighting, surface hardening and an office building.
