Manteca, CA

The City of Manteca has enjoyed a cooperative working relationship with Union Pacific for many years. In addition to the active rail line running through the City, Union Pacific and Manteca partnered more than 20 years ago on converting the abandoned Tidewater Southern rail line to what is now a 3.7-mile Tidewater Bike Way. This corridor is used regularly by pedestrians and bicyclists, and provides an attrative link to our downtown area. The City and Union Pacific  also have worked to improve safety along the active rail line by constructing safety fencing in much of the downtown area, restricting access across the rails and directing access to safer crossings.

Manteca has become home to a number of murals throughout the city, depicting its history and heritage. Many of those murals incorporate the Union Pacific Railroad as a key component. Manteca is proud to have partnered with Union Pacific for many years, and looks forward to many more years together.
