Cancellation of the FXE Grain Embargo

Announcement Number: AG2012-30
Categories: Export Corn Feed Grains and Soybeans
Posted Date: April 3, 2012

Effective April 1st the FXE grain embargo has been cancelled for Eagle Pass and El Paso. We will plan with FXE and BNSF to coordinate interchange at Eagle Pass and EL Paso under the following guidelines.

1. FXE will accept a maximum of 2 unit grain trains per day, 7 days per week, at Eagle Pass. They will accept 2 trains per day, everyday except Saturday, at El Paso. If fewer that 2 trains cross at El Paso on a Friday, FXE will accept the shortfall on Saturday.

2. The 2 train restriction at each gateway is the total received from both U.S. railroads. For example… 1 train from UP and 1 train from BNSF, 2 trains from UP and 0 from BNSF, or 0 trains from UP and 2 from BNSF.

3. The UP and BNSF will coordinate the train crossings at Eagle Pass and El Paso to adhere to the restrictions in Item #1.

4. When either railroad, UP or BNSF, crosses more than one train at a gateway that railroad will ensure that the trains are not billed to the same grain elevator.

5. FXE will only accept exploder trains with no less than 80 cars and a minimum of 20 cars for each block.

Thank you all for your support and coordination during the last months of embargo. If you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
