Announcement Number: CN2012-20
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: May 23, 2012

To Our Customers,

Union Pacific received notification this morning that a labor strike is underway on the Canadian Pacific (CP). The CP has been involved in labor negotiations with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), which represents CP's 4,800 locomotive engineers, conductors and rail traffic controllers, since last October.

CP has issued a series of embargoes that are in effect that block all shipments to and from the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Québec.

Union Pacific is holding all trains destined for Canada, but we are interchanging trains with the Canadian Pacific that are destined for the United States.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

If you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
