Winter Weather Continues to Impact Rail Operations

Announcement Number: CN2014-8
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: February 5, 2014

To Our Customers,

Icy conditions in Arkansas, in addition to heavy snowfall this week in Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago have again impacted operations across our network.

In all impacted areas, poor road conditions are limiting our ability to get crews to trains. The weather is also impacting pick-ups and deliveries to our Intermodal facilities in the Chicago area. Carload business in the Chicago area continues to be backlogged. We continue to re-route traffic around the Chicago area to alleviate congestion.

Over the next few days, forecasts call for zero-degree temperatures at night, stretching east from Wyoming across the northern portion of our network, which is expected to have an additional impact on train flows. Customers with traffic moving through the affected areas can expect 24- to 48-hour delays.
