Flooding Impact Growing in Iowa

Announcement Number: CN2016-22
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: September 24, 2016

To Our Customers,

Flood waters have begun receding in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, which will allow Union Pacific to begin the work necessary to repair damage found between Mason City and Minneapolis-St. Paul. We expect complete repairs in that area to take a couple days. Re-routes are being utilized, but customers with freight traversing that area should continue to anticipate 48- to 72-hour delays.

Near Cedar Rapids, where a disaster emergency has been declared, the Cedar River is not expected to crest until Tuesday. Traffic into that area has been suspended. Union Pacific continues to work with customers to reposition equipment in area yards. We also have staged employees and equipment to allow us to address any needed repairs as soon as is safely possible. Delays in this area also are expected to be 48 to 72 hours.

We will continue to provide updates as conditions warrant.

Thank you for your business. Please contact the National Customer Service Center or your Union Pacific sales representative with any questions.
