To Our Customers,

We continue to experience severe winter weather across many parts of our network, including some areas not accustomed to such interruptions. We continue to rely on our winter weather preparedness plan to mitigate the effects of winter weather events on our network.

We are halfway through the maintenance blitz on our Giddings subdivision, which is located between the Texas cities of Hearne and West Point (just east of Smithville). We expect to accomplish a great deal of maintenance work by the end of this week. Additional information on the Giddings blitz and other maintenance projects can be found at MyUPRR (user ID and password required).

Below are some network statistics from last week:
  • Carloadings for the week ending Feb. 28, 2015, were 169,105. This is up 8 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 24.5 mph, which is flat compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 30.1 hours, up slightly compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 288,819 cars online, which is almost 2,400 fewer than the previous week.
