Service Improvements between Chicago and Southern California

Dear Intermodal Customer:
 
Union Pacific is revising our intermodal service schedules to optimize train performance between Chicago and Southern California on domestic containers. As a result, effective Wednesday, October 16, 2013 there will be slight modifications for westbound cutoffs from Global 1, IL to City of Industry, CA and Los Angeles, CA on peak demand days and revised availability at Global 1, IL from City of Industry, CA only. There will be a new direct train from Global, 1, IL to City of Industry, CA Tuesday through Friday.       
 
These enhancements will provide the following features:
 
·         New single point trains on heavier demand days to improve overall performance while maintaining daily service.
 
·         Redesigned service plans to reduce work events and optimize terminal fluidity; providing consistent, reliable service.
 
·         Later cutoff at Global 1, IL on Standard service shipments to both Los Angeles and City of Industry, CA destinations.
 
 
The combined network changes result in minor schedule adjustments which are detailed in the link below. There will be NO changes to bill of lading instructions for interline shipments.
