Announcement Declaring Southern California Market No Longer Constrained - October 8, 2012

Dear Intermodal Customer,

Due to the expected availability of sufficient container capacity in the near term, UP has determined that the Southern California market is no longer constrained.  Until further notice, beginning the week of October 7, 2012, UP will no longer bill customers weekly Volume Surcharges for shipment volume in excess of the Surge Volume Allowance for each shipper in Southern California.

Current shipper forecasts indicate that demand in Southern California will increase beginning in late October and extending into November. This increase in demand may cause the Southern California market to again be constrained.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your Intermodal Sales Representative. We thank you for your business and look forward to a successful peak shipping season.
