To Our Valued Customers:

Union Pacific continues to improve its facilities by implementing new and advanced technologies designed to increase efficiencies and improve driver turn times.  In the upcoming months we will be replacing our Automated Gate System (AGS)  technology with a new AGS system.  This change-out will apply to Global 1 (Western Ave), Global 2 (Northlake), Global 3 (Rochelle) and Global 4 (Joliet).  Our Global 3 and Global 4 terminals have already started construction of the new systems.  Global 1 and Global 2 are planned for the Summer of 2013.   This new technology is designed to reduce driver wait times at the gate, and improve image and data collection as well as data integrity.  During construction, the terminals will have a 6-8 week period where the gates will be operated manually with personnel in the lanes with hand held devices.  Drivers may experience slightly longer gate processing times during this period.

Union Pacific has been communicating directly with the drivers however to ensure a smooth cutover, we also need your assistance.  Please inform your dray partners that it might take a little longer to check in and out of these facilities.  In addition, all drivers will need to pre-register with the new system.  Drivers can do this by stopping into the help office during the manual operations period and register.  This needs to be done only once in the 6-8 week period.  If drivers do not pre-register, they will be unable to process through the new AGS system and will experience delays when the system is activated.  To pre-register drivers will need their drivers licence and SCAC codes.

Global 3 is currently operating in manual mode today.  Pre-registration will be available starting on Monday December 3, 2012.

Global 4 will begin manual operations on Monday December 3, 2012.  Pre-registration will be available starting on Monday December 10, 2012.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
