Union Pacific appreciates the customer feedback we have received to date regarding the implementation of our new heavy container surcharge. Although we understand the concerns expressed, we will implement the surcharge starting October 1, 2014. As we explained previously, the surcharge is necessary for UP to continue to efficiently move double stacked containers on our westbound trains.

The initial bulletin (provided below) contains the details of the new surcharge. The surcharge will be added to MITA effective October 1, 2014. We appreciate your attention to this change. Should you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
