Chicago to Dallas (Mesquite) Service Change Effective February 1, 2013

Dear Intermodal Customer,
Effective Friday, February 1, 2013, Union Pacific will be changing terminals for intermodal traffic moving from Yard Center, IL to Dallas (Mesquite), TX. Beginning with this date all traffic moving southbound to Dallas (Mesquite), TX will be handled at UPRR’s Joliet (Global IV), IL intermodal terminal. This change will also affect all traffic moving to/from connecting railroads. Customer billing will need to be modified to reflect Joliet (Global IV), IL as noted below.
UPRR will begin accepting billing for the new service lane beginning Monday, January 28, 2013. To Note: Although UPRR will accept billing for the new lane, the first train will not depart until Friday, February 1st. The last day to bill freight for the old service lane will be as follows:

Please Note: For the last day of service from Yard Center, all customers will need to observe the final cut-off time of 2359 on Wednesday, January 30th. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
These changes will improve Chicago terminal fluidity and will improve service for the movement of your freight. The Joliet (Global IV), IL terminal is UPRR’s newest terminal which enjoys the latest technology for in-gate/out-gate processing as well as offering expanded capacity. Additional benefits of the terminal change include:
- 50% faster in-gate and out-gate processing, including less than one-minute wait time to enter facility
- Location allows you to bypass Chicago metro area, situated near I-80 and I-55
- Larger terminal facility and close proximity to distribution centers
- Wider driver lanes and parking slots – 4,000 marked parking spots vs. 1,450 at Yard Center
- Indoor help kiosk for Motor Carriers
Outlined below, please find current and revised schedules. Price documents will be modified to reflect these announced changes.
