The Nebraska Business Hall of Fame recognized Fritz, who retired from the railroad last year, for his contributions to the state's economy and business environment.

Union Pacific retired Chairman, President and CEO Lance Fritz has been recognized for his contributions to Nebraska’s economy and business environment as a new member of the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame.

Fritz, who retired from the railroad last year after 23 years of service, led Union Pacific through many milestones and challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Courage to Care employee safety initiative, and implemented paid sick leave for all craft professionals and coordinated scheduled work initiatives, making railroad jobs appealing for the future. His strategic leadership included laying the foundation for intermodal growth, investing in innovative technology and furthering Union Pacific’s commitment to sustainability and diversity and inclusion.

Active in the community, Fritz serves on several boards of directors, including the Parker Hannifin Corporation, Business Roundtable, The Business Council, Nebraska Medicine, Omaha Zoological Society and the STRATCOM Consultation Committee.

Fritz was honored at a Feb. 1 banquet in Lincoln, Nebraska, along with fellow inductees Sid Dinsdale, Pinnacle Bancorp, and the Hornady family, Hornady Manufacturing Co.

“This year’s honorees include some of the most impactful business leaders in Nebraska,” said Bryan Slone, president of the Nebraska Chamber. “Their innovative aspirations, grit and business acumen are just the tip of the iceberg. They have also made remarkable contributions to their communities and the entire state.”

The Nebraska Business Hall of Fame, a collaboration between the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business, has recognized more than 135 business leaders since 1992.
