Ice cream and sports – UPVETS leveraged employees' sweet tooths and competitive nature to raise funds supporting local military families.
This year’s fundraising effort included Scoops for Troops, the Employee Resource Group’s annual ice cream social at Omaha’s Union Pacific Center, and a systemwide virtual silent auction with sports-themed prizes. Items up for bid included tickets to the Green Bay Packers, University of Nebraska Omaha hockey and volleyball, Creighton basketball and the Omaha Storm Chasers, as well as a Yeti Tundra cooler.
All funds raised will benefit Offutt Air Force Base’s Airman’s Attic, a goodwill store for junior enlisted personnel and their families. Last year’s fundraiser provided 10 enlisted Air Force families with gifts for the holiday season. Employees interested in helping are encouraged to visit the UPVETS event page to learn more.
