Union Pacific Railroad’s year-round internship program was recently recognized as one of Vault’s “Top 100 Best Internships” for 2024. Year to date, Union Pacific has employed nearly 300 year-round, summer and hybrid interns across our 23-state system.
This marks the first time Union Pacific has made Vault’s Top 100 ranking. Union Pacific’s Tech, Engineering and Finance intern programs also achieved a Top 25 ranking.

For Cate Manning, year-round intern-Corporate Communications, her internship experience has pushed her out of her comfort zone and allowed her to grow as a professional.
"The real-world experience I've gained here has been invaluable,” Manning said. "I've had the opportunity to hone the skills I've learned in the classroom and learn new ones while gaining exposure to an unfamiliar industry. I feel welcome here and know that I'm a valued team member."
The 2024 rankings are based on the results of Vault’s 2023 Internship Survey conducted this past summer. Career mentoring platform Firsthand surveyed more than 13,300 current and former interns from 145 internship programs, asking respondents to rank their own experiences at different companies.
Union Pacific’s internship program advances the learning experience for students while enabling the company to continue its relationship with prospective employees.
