UP 43 Tariff Changes Effective October 1, 2023

Dear Union Pacific Customer,
Effective October 1, 2023, rates contained in tariff UP 43, Items 4150, 4600, and 5100 will increase by the following:
• $75/car for tank cars destined to the Midwest / South (defined as: AR, IA, IL, KS, LA, MN, MO, NE, OK, TN, TX, WI)
• $150 for tanks cars destined to the West (defined as: AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, WA, WY)
• $175 for covered hoppers for all published lanes
The tank car increase will be applied to rates for mid tanks (capacity between 24,500 Gallons - 27,499 Gallons). Large tanks (greater than 27,500 Gallons) will be 8% more than the mid tank. Small tank rates will be expired (less than 24,499 Gallons) and these car types will now be rated on the mid tank rate.
The covered hopper increase will be applied to all covered hoppers. Small hopper rates will be expired (AAR Car Type C-3) and these car types will now be rated on the large hopper rate (AAR Car Type C-4).
