Union Pacific's Interchange with CP Remains Suspended

Canadian Pacific (CP) has advised its customers and connecting railroads today that the bill for the resumption of CP's Canadian rail service continues to progress through Parliament. A labor strike has been underway on the CP since May 23, following negotiations with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), which represents CP's 4,800 locomotive engineers, conductors and rail traffic controllers. If the current progress of the bill continues, CP anticipates that operations could resume as early as 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 31.
Once the legislation has successfully passed, CP has stated it will implement a start-up plan to ensure that Canadian operations resume in a safe and timely manner. In the meantime, Union Pacific's interchange with CP remains suspended, with CP embargoes in effect for all shipments to and from CP Canadian locations, including CP shipments originating in Canada which are billed to any Canadian or U.S. destination and CP shipments originating in the United States which are billed to any Canadian destination.
