Announcement Number: CN2012-25

To Our Customers,

Canadian Pacific (CP) has reported that the bill for the resumption of CP's Canadian rail service will progress to the Canadian Senate today for consideration and passage. Following Senate approval, CP operations could resume on Friday, June 1.

A labor strike has been underway on the CP since May 23, following negotiations with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), which represents CP's 4,800 locomotive engineers, conductors and rail traffic controllers. Once the legislation has successfully passed, CP has stated it will implement a start-up plan to ensure that Canadian operations resume in a safe and timely manner.

In the meantime, Union Pacific's interchange with CP remains suspended, with CP embargoes in effect for all shipments to and from CP Canadian locations, including CP shipments originating in Canada which are billed to any Canadian or U.S. destination and CP shipments originating in the United States which are billed to any Canadian destination.

We are monitoring progress closely and will continue to provide updates as new information is available.

If you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
