Isaac Update

Announcement Number: CN2012-38
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: August 31, 2012

To Our Customers,

Union Pacific crews have finished inspecting track infrastructure in the areas impacted by Hurricane Isaac. Minor signal and track repairs are complete and operations are expected to build back to normal across the affected areas between Beaumont, Texas, Shreveport and New Orleans, La.

The embargo for all shipments to and from the New Orleans area has been canceled. Additionally, the embargo for all Rail Security Sensitive Materials (RSSM) shipments billed via the New Orleans interchange has been amended to only include interchange with CSX.

For a current list of embargoes, please refer to the embargo (http://www.uprr.com/customers/embargo/list.shtml) section of the Union Pacific website. Customers with questions about shipments into and out of the New Orleans area and other embargoed areas should contact the National Customer Center at 1-800-272-8777.

We will continue to reroute CSX business via alternate gateways for the next few weeks due to track washouts on the CSX east of New Orleans. Traffic interchanged with NS at New Orleans is expected to resume late this evening.

Customers with traffic scheduled through the New Orleans gateway should continue to anticipate 24- to 48-hour delays as operations resume and crews work off the backlog of traffic.

If you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
