Extreme Winter Weather Impacting Rail Operations

Announcement Number: CN2013-18
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: December 6, 2013

To Our Customers,

Extremely cold temperatures are impacting Union Pacific operations across the northern tier of our network in eastern Idaho, Wyoming and western Nebraska. These conditions are impacting our ability to switch and classify cars for outbound movements from terminals as well as our ability to set-out and pick-up cars. Currently, our ability to operate trains is very limited in this area and trains that move to or through this area will be impacted.

Additionally, freezing rain and snow, combined with cold temperatures, is impacting Union Pacific operations across the southern tier of our network from eastern Texas into Arkansas and Missouri. Continued precipitation combined with dropping temperatures will have an impact in this area throughout the weekend.

Customers can expect delays for shipments moving through the affected areas.

If you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
