Winter Weather Rail Operations Update

Announcement Number: CN2014-3
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: January 8, 2014

To Our Customers,

Temperatures have continued to moderate across the northern tier of our network and all train length restrictions have been cancelled. Switching operations in terminals are improving, but there remains a backlog of traffic for local delivery and interchange to connecting carriers. This backlog is heaviest in the Chicago area. To help alleviate congestion in the Chicago interchanges, we plan, through Saturday, to re-route trains with the Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation via St. Louis and Kansas City gateways.

Customers should continue to expect 24- to 72-hour delays as weather conditions improve and the backlog is alleviated.

If you have any questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
