Union Pacific Service Update

Announcement Number: CN2014-35
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: October 23, 2014

To Our Customers,

Demand continues to be strong across our network, and many of our customers are seeing strong growth in their markets. Seven-day carloadings in September increased to almost 195,000, from an average of about 192,500 in August. September represented the highest volume month we've experienced in 2014. Our velocity numbers, while still not where we'd like them to be, are holding reasonably steady across the majority of our network and showing improvement in the Northern Region. In recent weeks, we have been able to recover quickly from interruptions to our network and maintain velocity.

One area where we are currently experiencing challenges is in the Pacific Northwest. Strong demand in the region has caused some delays due to crew shortages over the past couple weeks. To address the issue, we are relocating crews to the PNW. Additionally, we have new crews graduating from our training program over the next several weeks that will join our workforce in the region. Overall, we are optimistic about our ability to improve service in the PNW soon.

Thank you for your continued support of Union Pacific. If you have any questions, please contact your Union Pacific representative.
