To Our Customers,

Our Southern region experienced some weather related challenges from ice and snow accumulation stretching from parts of Texas northeast through Arkansas. The maintenance blitz on our Giddings subdivision, located between the Texas cities of Hearne and West Point, was completed and traffic flows resumed on March 8. The blitz allowed us to complete a large amount of work in about a week. Post-blitz maintenance work will further improve rail operations in the area with minimal interruptions to freight traffic. For additional information on other maintenance projects, please visit MyUPRR (user ID and password required).

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending March 7, 2015, were 173,109. This is up 2 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 24.2 mph, which is down 0.3 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 30.3 hours, up slightly compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 289,275 cars online, which is flat to the previous week.
