To Our Customers,

Velocity and carloadings were flat compared to the previous week following weather events in both the Northern and Southern Regions. Repairs to bridges and track in both regions have been completed, and operations have returned to normal. Maintenance projects for the coming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 10 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on key routes in the Pacific Northwest, Central Corridor and Texas. Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending May 16, 2015, were 175,230. This is down 0.2 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 25.0 mph, which is down 0.1 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 27.5 hours, which is down more than half an hour compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 292,640 cars online, which is flat to the previous week.
