Weekly Service Update

Announcement Number: CN2015-41
Categories: Weekly Service Updates
Posted Date: June 10, 2015

To Our Customers,

Following a holiday week, carloadings increased and terminal dwell decreased, while velocity remained fairly flat. Network operations have been restored from weather-related route outages in our Southern Region. We also faced network outages in the Powder River Basin due to torrential rains in the area. We have worked to minimize the impact on our network by rerouting trains and expediting repairs. As of this morning, one of the two main lines on our route to the Powder River Basin has been restored, and crews are working to get the other main line back in service by tonight as we also work through the backlog of traffic. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming weeks include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 10 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on key routes in our Central Corridor and Texas. • System terminal dwell was 27.7 hours, which is down 2.6 hours compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 294,826 cars online, which is flat compared to the previous week.
