Rain, Flooding Continue to Impact Southern Region

Announcement Number: CN2016-10
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: April 20, 2016

To Our Customers,

Much of the greater Houston area, which received up to 20 inches of rain on Monday, received additional rain today.

Despite recent weather conditions, Union Pacific has only one subdivision out of service -- Smithville. As a follow up to Monday's message, water is receding on the Navasota, Glidden and Eureka Subdivisions. The current weather system should move east of our railroad within the next several hours. Flash flood warnings do remain on the DeQuincy Subdivision, which is east of the Houston area.

More rain is expected in the Houston area tomorrow though total amounts are expected to be lower than we've seen the past several days. Union Pacific has resources staged and ready to respond to any additional issues that arise, and we will make repairs as conditions safely allow. Customers with traffic in the area should continue to expect delays of up to 48 hours.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as conditions warrant.

Thank you for your business. Please contact the National Customer Service Center or your Union Pacific representative with any questions.
