Update: Southern Region Flooding

Announcement Number: CN2016-6
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: March 15, 2016

To Our Customers,

Heavy rainfall and washouts continue to impact service on our network in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas with water levels continuing to rise. Severe flooding has caused the additional closure of the Lafayette subdivision, cutting off service between Lake Charles, La. and Beaumont, Texas. The following subdivisions remain closed: DeQuincy (between Beaumont, Texas and DeQuincy, La.); McGehee (between Pinebluff, Ark. and Monroe, La.); Monroe (between Monroe and Alexandria, La.); and Reisor (between Shreveport and Alexandria, La.).

Crews have started repairs in some areas where flooding has subsided and have positioned equipment to begin repair work once the flood waters recede. At this time, we anticipate service will be impacted over the next few weeks as we work to assess the damage and make necessary repairs. We are working with eastern carriers to reroute traffic when possible. Customers with shipments moving through the affected areas should continue to expect delays exceeding 48 hours.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as information becomes available.

Thank you for your business. Please contact the National Customer Service Center or your Union Pacific representative with any questions.
