Rainfall Causes Outage on Marysville Subdivision in Nebraska

Announcement Number: CN2015-30
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: May 7, 2015

To Our Customers,

Significant rainfall in southeastern Nebraska has caused washouts and high water along our main line. The most significantly affected areas are between the towns of Fairbury and Carleton, Nebraska, where about 25 miles of our double main line is out of service. This section of track, along the Marysville subdivision, is an important artery between Kansas City and North Platte, handling more than 50 trains per day. Damage assessments are underway and more rain is forecast in the area over the next 24 to 36 hours.

Resources are being mobilized to the area to repair the track though we do not currently have a time frame for reopening this line. Traffic will be rerouted when possible, and customers with freight traversing the affected subdivision should expect delays. We will continue to update customers as repairs progress.

If you have any questions, please contact the National Customer Service Center or your Union Pacific representative.
