Rail Operations Update

Announcement Number: CN2023-46
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: August 23, 2023

To Our Customers,

Following is an update to our network from the recent weather events.

Southern California
Between Banning and Indio, California (Yuma subdivision) – Early this morning, we reopened one of the two tracks that traverses the bridge outage. At this point we are estimating that the bridge and corresponding track work will take approximately two weeks to repair.

Although we have returned one track to service to this impacted area, it will take multiple days to work through the backlog of trains. We will also need to re-balance locomotive power and crews to the region and customers should expect extended delays during this recovery effort.

Texas Gulf Coast
The five-mile stretch of track that was underwater near Corpus Christi, Texas has been cleared and operations have resumed.

Please continue to reference our Hurricane Planning and Recovery page, which outlines best practices to follow during the hurricane season.

If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.
