To Our Customers,
We’re in the home stretch of the year! I’m thankful for your continued support and trusting us to be your rail transportation provider. We know that delivering consistent and reliable service is what you expect, and we continue to make improvements to our service product. I’m pleased with the progress that we have sustained over the past few months.
Our Metrics
Here are our latest weekly metrics reported to the Surface Transportation Board (STB) on December 1. These metrics are compared to performance in mid-April 2022, and are based on the STB definitions for industry reporting:
- Car Velocity: Improved 25% to 221 miles per day.
- First Mile, Last Mile: Improved 2 points to 92%.
- Trip Plan Compliance (TPC):
- TPC Bulk (unit train): Improved 24 points to 90%.
- TPC Manifest: Improved 21 points to 80%.
- TPC Intermodal: Improved 24 points to 94%.
Opening New Phoenix Intermodal Facility
On November 29, we announced plans to open a new international intermodal facility in Phoenix, Arizona to be operational in the first quarter 2024. The Phoenix market is one of the fastest growing areas for manufacturing and warehousing in the southwest. I’m excited that we are making investments to support a new service product from the ports of Los Angeles to Phoenix, with the expectation to expand in the future. This is a great opportunity to leverage the sustainability of rail transportation and provide our customers with more optionality to compete in the marketplace.
