To Our Customers,

Our holiday plan was implemented successfully. For the full month of December, our AAR velocity was 24.5, the highest monthly average since January 2014. Entering the new year, we have fully implemented our winter weather preparedness plan, which will reduce the impact of the cold temperatures, high winds and snow currently affecting our Northern tier.

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending Jan. 3, 2015, were 144,934. Fourth quarter carloadings (as reported to AAR) were 6 percent higher than 2013.
  • AAR system velocity was 24.5 mph, down 0.1 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was impacted by our holiday shutdown, up 4.8 hours to 39.4.
  • In total, we had 297,079 cars online, which is slightly lower than the previous week.

Thank you for your business. Please contact the National Customer Service Center or your Union Pacific representative with any questions.
