To Our Customers,

After clearing the backlog of holiday traffic, terminal dwell improved by nearly three hours, while carloadings were up nearly 4 percent and velocity improved nearly 1 percent. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 12 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on key North-South routes, the Pacific Northwest and the Central Corridor. Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending July 18, 2015, were 176,458. This is up 3.9 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 25.3 mph, which is up 0.2 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 28.5 hours, which is down 2.9 hours compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 293,550 cars online, which is down nearly 2,200 from the previous week.
