To Our Customers,

During the past week, network velocity improved to 25.5 mph, our highest level since January 2015. At the same time, terminal dwell increased by about half an hour on 2.6 percent higher carloadings volume. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 14 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on the Northern Region, the Central Corridor and North-South Routes. Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending Aug. 1,  2015, were 180,081. This is up 2.6 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 25.5 mph, which is up 0.3 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 28.9 hours, which is up 0.6 hours compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 291,866 cars online, which is flat to the previous week.
