Weekly Service Update

To Our Customers,

Additional flooding affected portions of Texas during the past week. While system velocity remained steady, we saw a small increase in terminal dwell and a small decrease in carloadings. All lines have since been returned to normal operations. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 13 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on the Northern and Southern regions. Check for more information on our maintenance projects (user ID and password required).

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending Nov. 7, 2015, were 171,784. This is down 2 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 26.5 mph, which is flat compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 28.4 hours, which is up 0.7 hours compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 294,545 cars online, which is flat compared to the previous week.
