To Our Customers,

Following the holiday week, we saw an increase in carloadings that was accompanied by an increase in velocity and terminal dwell. At 27.7 mph, velocity has reached its highest level since the first week of 2013. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on five key subdivisions.

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending Dec. 5, 2015, were 174,892. This is up 16.6 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 27.7 mph, which is up 0.7 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 36.6 hours, which is up 8.4 hours compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 297,894 cars online, which is up 1.1 percent compared to the previous week.
