Dear Intermodal Customer,

On September 22, 2014 at approximately 1830 hours, the Pasha Marine Terminal had one of their warehouses catch on fire. This particular warehouse was built on top of a wharf under which the fire actually started. The wooden pilings caught on fire and because of the creosote treatment they put out massive amounts of toxic black smoke when they burned. At first just a portion of the LA harbor had been shut down but as the fire continued to spread more and more of the black toxic smoke filled the air causing most of the terminals in the LA harbor and on Terminal Island to shut down. By 1930 hours all train movement to GGS, TICTF, Pier 400, the LAXT loops and to West Basin had been shut down. As of 9/22, 2200 hours the fire was still putting out massive amounts of smoke which continued to cover the whole LA port area.

The docks had planned to release 6 trains at 2200 hours and an additional 4 trains at 0300. Out of these 10 releases only 2 were going to be released out of the Port of Long Beach, which was not affected by the fire. The ILPDIX-23 and the ITSG42-23 were the two Long Beach trains that should be able to remain on schedule. The IHJDI-20, IWBDI-22, ILXMN-23, ILEWX-23, ILXDUX-20, ILXNSX-22, ILXDI-22 and the IPFDIX-23 will all have to be pushed back due to the fire.
