Nature of Firm

The Blacklands Railroad (BLR) operates eight miles from Mount Pleasant to Winfield, Texas. The railroad is centrally located along the I-30 corridor between Dallas, Tyler, Longview, Texarkana and Shreveport. BLR hauls numerous commodities and can provide switching services up to five days/week with excellent access to our interchange partner Union Pacific.

History

The Blacklands Railroad began operations in 1999 on an abandoned Southern Pacific rail line that stretched from Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Greenville, Texas. In 2010, Blacklands Railroad expanded to operate another short line, The Henderson-Overton Branch (HOB), that stretched from Overton, Texas to Henderson, Texas. Blacklands Railroad further diversified in 2014 by creating a subsidiary, Black Gold Terminals, that specializes in transloading, contract switching and industrial rail parks. In 2019, Blacklands opened a locomotive shop in Longview, Texas along with Blacklands Locomotive Services to provide repair and maintenance services to locomotive owners at a great value. Blacklands Railroad was awarded the Short Line Railroad of the Year in 2011 by Railway Age.
