What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's an easy way to receive updates from your favorite sites. Subscribing to RSS feeds brings headlines and summaries to you in one easy-to-find place. Clicking on a link takes you to the full story.
How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?
Install a news reader (or aggregator) that shows the RSS feeds you've subscribed to. The news reader delivers all the headlines from your favorite websites. MyYahoo! and Personalized Google homepage users can add RSS feeds to their personal page.
Add a feed by clicking the respective link, or copy and paste the URL. Clicking the RSS link if you do not have a reader installed, will offer you only XML code in your browser.
MyYahoo! Users:
- Copy the RSS feed URL.
- On your MyYahoo! Homepage, select the "+Add Content" link located under the MyYahoo! search bar.
- To the right of the "Find Content" box, click on "Add RSS by URL" and paste the RSS feed URL into the URL search box.
- Click "Add." The headlines now will appear when you return to your MyYahoo! homepage.
Personalized Google homepage Users:
- Copy the RSS feed Title. For example: Union Pacific: News Releases.
- On your Google homepage, click the "Add Content" link in the upper left-hand corner of the page.
- Click "Create a Section" and paste the RSS feed Title into the "Search by topic or feed URL" box.
- Select "Go." Select one of the search results listed. The headlines now will appear on your Google homepage.
