Tuesday’s mass murder in Uvalde, Texas, and the mass murder that took place in Buffalo, New York, on May 14 continue a pattern of heart shattering violence in America. In these events and in others before them, people going about their normal lives – individuals, children, parents, grandparents – experienced their last moment on earth facing thoughtless, cowardly menace. How can we have people among us who conclude random killing is the answer to their circumstance? I am deeply saddened, troubled, angry and discouraged. But not hopeless! I know we can and will work through this together.

What we need right now is to support each other, and our co-workers, friends and loved ones.
