To our customers,

We are reaching out to provide a reminder and overview of our Extended Usage Fees Policy and Best Practices. The extended usage program helps to conserve fuel during the process of loading and unloading refrigerated boxcars.

Origin EUF Upon placement, car can be turned ON for a maximum of 24 consecutive hours

Starts: When the refrigeration unit is turned ON
Ends: Car is released as a load

For example, if a refrigeration unit is turned on at 10:00 a.m. on Monday and the car does not get released until 10:01 a.m. on Tuesday, a $200 extended use fee will be applied that day and each additional day until the car is released. Destination EUF (Offline Only

Destination EUF (Offline Only) Upon placement, car can be left ON for a maximum of 72 consecutive hours * Based on monthly average dwell

Starts: At destination
Ends: Refrigeration unit is turned OFF

For example, if the refrigeration unit arrives at destination at 10:00 a.m. on Monday and the refrigeration unit is still running at 10:01 a.m. on Thursday, a $200 extended use fee will be applied that day and each additional day until the refrigeration unit is turned off

We greatly appreciate your cooperation in implementing this program by following the policy and recommended best practices. Best practices can be found here pdf_ag-prod_refrig_euf-policy.pdf (up.com).

Sincerely,
UPRR Refrigerated Team
