Three Subdivisions Opening; Update on Remaining Outages

To Our Customers,
While there is still work to be done in the affected areas, over the past few days our Maintenance of Way teams have made significant progress restoring service to areas impacted by flooding.
In areas where flooding conditions are imminent, operations personnel continue to take precautionary action to protect Union Pacific and customer equipment. Additional flooding risk is being assessed for our main lines from Kansas City, Missouri, to Jefferson City, Missouri, and from Hiawatha, Kansas, to Marysville, Kansas. Once we determine the potential risk to our network infrastructure in these areas, we will mitigate those risks and plan contingencies to the best of our abilities.
Three Subdivisions Opening Today after Weather Related Outages
- Ayer Subdivision (Spokane to Hinkle, Washington)
Union Pacific has reopened service over the Ayer Subdivision where we previously had an outage associated with a derailment caused by a rock slide. Customers should expect continued delays over the next 48 hours as we begin to move traffic over the previously impacted area.
- Omaha Subdivision (Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Fremont, Nebraska, via Omaha) and Blair Subdivision (Fremont, Nebraska, to Missouri Valley, Iowa, via Blair)
These two locations will open later today; portions of these subdivisions may remain under embargo with permits as we continue to progress our repairs on the Columbus Subdivision.
Remaining Areas with Flooding Related Outages
- Columbus Subdivision (Fremont to Grand Island, Nebraska)
- Lincoln Subdivision (Valley to Lincoln, Nebraska)
- Falls City Subdivision (Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Kansas City, Kansas)
Where possible, Union Pacific will continue to reroute traffic around the affected areas. Customers with rerouted shipments may experience an additional 72-96 hours of transit time.
