Posted Date: March 29, 2019

To Our Customers,

We appreciate your continual understanding and cooperation as we work through the vast impact of the recent weather and flooding events. We continue to make significant progress restoring operations across our network. Following are updates on the locations currently impacted:

Columbus Subdivision (Fremont to Grand Island, Nebraska)
  • Manifest customers with shipments moving through this subdivision should continue to expect 3-5 day transit time impacts over the next several weeks as we move traffic over the previously impacted area.
River Subdivision (Kansas City to Jefferson City, Missouri, via Marshall, Missouri)
  • Current estimated time of opening is tomorrow evening, Saturday, March 30, 2019.
  • Trains moving through this area will operate under speed restrictions until further notice.
Falls City Subdivision (Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Kansas City, Kansas)
  • Water remains over portions of our rail at this location, and shipments moving south of Bellevue, Nebraska, may be rerouted due to the outage.
  • We continue to make repairs to our rail bridge over the Platte River and anticipate an estimated time of opening will be available next week.
Lincoln Subdivision (Valley to Lincoln, Nebraska)
  • Repairs are estimated to begin in April and the current estimated time of opening has yet to be established.
St. Paul, Minnesota, and Surrounding Areas
  • We continue to monitor flood conditions in the area. We are working closely with government and city officials to evaluate flood gate closure impact to our rail operations.
Where possible, Union Pacific will continue to reroute traffic around the affected areas. Manifest customers with rerouted shipments may experience an additional 72-96 hours of transit time.
