Changes to Demurrage Billing Requirements - A Message from Kenny Rocker, EVP, Marketing & Sales

Announcement Number: CN2021-29

To Our Customers,

Last month, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) issued a decision requiring a set of data fields to be provided on demurrage invoices issued by all Class I carriers. The new rule will become effective on October 6, 2021, allowing railroads time to implement the programming changes needed to comply.

Our team is working to implement the system changes required to comply with the rule. Once complete, customers will begin to receive invoices with the additional information.

Customers can already take advantage of our online tools that provide shipment visibility, including our comprehensive Shipment Management dashboard. The Shipment Management dashboard shows equipment “At Industry” and in the “Serving Yard” including average dwell hours, as well as a link to the Chargeable Events System that monitors demurrage debits and credits. The shipment dashboard is a one-stop shop to effectively manage daily operations and gives you full visibility to your supply chain. You can access Shipment Management by logging into MyUPRR.com (user ID and password required).

We will continue to keep you updated on our efforts. If you have any questions, please contact your sales representative.

Sincerely,
Small | Kenny Rocker Signature
