Modification to MITA Item 810 Storage and Free Time

Dear Intermodal Customer,

Fluidity in our Intermodal terminals is critical to providing continued growth for our International and Domestic Intermodal customers.
 
In order to improve our capacity and fluidity at constrained Intermodal terminals, UPRR is modifying its storage free time and charges as detailed below:
 
Effective June 1, 2016 the changes in Item 810 will be applied to shipments as detailed below:
 
Domestic: shipments in 28, 48, and 53 foot intermodal equipment (containers or trailers) billed as domestic shipments
 
International: shipments in 20, 40 or 45 foot intermodal equipment (containers) billed as an international or ISO shipment
 
Any shipment waybilled on or after June 1, 2016 will be subject to the following three changes:
 
1)      Sunday will no longer be an exempt day at the following terminals:
LATC, CA                        Kansas City, MO
Los Angeles, CA               Portland (Brooklyn), Or
Global 2 IL                      Port Laredo, TX
DIT, TX
 
2)      Free Time will be reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours at the following terminals:
LATC, CA                         Portland (Brooklyn), OR
Los Angeles, CA                Port Laredo, TX (domestic only)
Global 2, IL (domestic only)
 
3)      Storage charges will be adjusted at all terminals
 
1-5 days          $100.00/day
6+ days           $200.00/day
 
 
Implementing these changes will support our efforts to improve terminal fluidity and increase throughput, all of which is designed to support future growth.
