Southbound Mexico Direct Loads - Electronic Export Information (EEI) Requirement

Announcement Number: IM2017-311
Categories: Domestic Service Lanes and Schedules,Domestic Other Service Information,Domestic Mexico
Posted Date: August 24, 2017

Dear Intermodal Customer,

Due to the mandatory notice for export reporting to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) when offering trains to Mexico, Customs may now request containers to be inspected prior to interchange. Union Pacific has been advised that containers without Electronic Export Information (EEI) on file will have a higher probability of border inspection. To avoid service interruption, effective June 1st, EEI documents will need to be sent to the U.S. Freight Forwarder, Double Stack Services (DSS), along with your standard Customs-related export paperwork. If DSS does not receive the required EEI documentation, it will not process the container for loading onto flatcar to Mexico.
