The company was incorporated March 12, 1913, and opened on September 6, 1914. Passenger service ended in 1937. North American Chemical acquired this line from Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation in 1990. IMC Global acquired North American Chemical in 1998. In 2000, IMC Global sold off this segment of the business to Searles Valley Minerals.
