BRG is a terminal switching railroad at the Port of Brownsville, TX operating 42 miles of track and connecting with UP and KCSM via an intermediate switch for UP. Traffic includes steel, agricultural products, food products and general commodities.
History
This line was operated by the MP until 1984, when its owner, the Brownsville Navigation District, took it back and started the BRG. The company is directed by a Board of Trustees.
In 2014, OmniTRAX received approval from the Board of Trustees for a 30 year franchise deal which included acquisition of BRG assets, investment of $8.5M into an industrial park, 100% of freight revenue and 50% of lease revenue.
