Missouri Eastern Railroad (MER)

Nature of Firm

Missouri Eastern Railroad (MER) was formed when Jaguar Transport Holdings purchased two separate short lines and combined them into one. The first transaction includes 43 miles from V&S Railway (from MP 19 near Vigus, Miss. to MP 61.89 near Union, Miss.). The second segment assumed the lease and operating rights from the former Central Midland Railway (CMR) from MP 10.3 near Rock Island, Miss. to MP 19 near Vigus, Miss. MER operates as a handling carrier for Union Pacific on the leased line and a switch carrier on their privately owned section of track.
