History

The railroad was chartered May 28, 1898 to build a line from Moscow to San Augustine, TX (65 miles). It was completed from Camden to Moscow in 1898 and never extended. Passenger service was discontinued in 1973. Champion International acquired the company in 1969. International Paper Company acquired control on June 30, 2000. In April 2007, Georgia Pacific acquired all assets from International Paper and is now the current owner.
